As you know from our last entry, Stonehenge 8 will occur next year. In the meantime, many actors may want to check out the Third Annual Actors' Expo, put on by the folks at the Actors' Center.

As you may not know, many of us at Team J are members of the Actors' Center and have attended previous Expos. You'll find a number of workshops and panels that will help you in auditioning technique as well as learning what casting directors are looking for.

Stonehenge VIII to be in '09

After two enormously successful Stonehenges so far this year--including one in a new city, Baltimore--we were hoping to finish the year with a third henge in a new location to replace our favorite DC place: the Warehouse Theater.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find a comparable place that's also affordable, so we are postponing Stonehenge VIII until next year. As always, the event will be announced here on the Blog and on the Team J web site. When we know, you'll know.

Reminder for Actors attending Stonehenge this Sunday!

All 192 actors are being sent an email Thursday with their audition time and other important information.

If you have not received an email by Thursday evening, and do not find it lurking in an overzealous spam filter, shoot us an email at stonehenge*at*teamjabberwocky*dot*com.

Two important points noted in the email:

1) You will need 21 copies of your headshot and resume, properly formatted.

2) If you want us to tape you, you need to sign the video release.

Stonehenge VII: Actor Emails Sent!

243 actors registered for Stonehenge VII in Baltimore, Maryland. Registration closed Sunday with spaces awarded by random lottery on Monday. Every actor was sent an email Monday evening as to whether they got a space or not. If you haven't received the email, feel free to contact us at stonehenge@teamjabberwocky.com.

Stonehenge Policy Changes

As many of you know, actor and filmmaker registration for Stonehenge is now open at www.goteamj.com/stonehenge.html. On May 18th, the mass audition for film and video projects will be in Baltimore, MD.

We're excited to be expanding to a new city and hope you'll join us. Mass auditions are the precision skydiving of audition forms: it's very stressful and we at Team J do our best to make sure it's a positive experience for actors. Many of us _are_ actors, after all.

But...

This past Stonehenge in March, we had some issues with actors not only not showing (the worst in three years), but also not showing up with the right number of headshots and not having the headshots properly formatted. Then there's the actors who, upon getting randomly assigned a standby slot in the lottery, felt that being on standby was "insulting" and "not worth" their time.

Clearly it's time for some tough love.

Over 350 actors registered for the last Stonehenge and we have every expectation that over 300 will register for this one. So if you're one of the lucky few who gets a guaranteed or standby space, you know these things:

*Number of Headshots*
If you're registering for this Stonehenge, you plan on having AT LEAST 50 copies of your headshot and resume by May 18th if not already. You know that "at least" means "possibly more." You remember that you will be given the exact number of headshots/resumes to bring in the confirmation email sent a couple days before the event. You understand that if you do not have the correct number of headshots/resumes upon check-in, YOU WILL NOT AUDITION and the resumes you have brought WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED.

*Format of Headshots*
Headshots and resumes will be either 8" x 10" or 8" x 11 1/2" - that's it. They should either be printed on both sides - or the headshot should be secured to the resume with four neat staples on each of the four corners. You understand that if your headshot/resumes are incorrectly formatted YOU WILL NOT AUDITION and the resumes you have brought WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED.

*Standby Spaces*
You know that many folks with Standby spaces get to audition thanks to cancellations. Sometimes you find out with the confirmation email sent a couple days before the event. Sometimes you find out at the event itself. You know that we won't begrudge you giving up your slot for any reason. We don't even need to know the reason, we just want to know you won't be there.

Why do you know all these things? Because you know that there are over 100 actors cursing the cold randomness of not being selected by the lottery. If you're not going to be prepared, stand aside so one of your fellow actors can audition.

Stonehenge VI (DC, 3/29) Update: 45 Headshots Needed

Important note for all the 192 actors attending Saturday's Stonehenge. You were told to plan for AT LEAST 40 headshots and now the official number is in.

You need 45.

We have the biggest turnout yet from filmmakers: 90 folks from 35 companies are ready to see you, so make sure your headshots are in order.

That means you've counted out 45 headshots before you check in and they are printed on both sides of one sheet or the two sheets are securely stapled in each of the four corners.

And don't forget about the video release (we have a FAQ about it as well). Upon check-in, we will be asked for that if you're opting-in to be taped.

Stonehenge Mass Auditions: Deadline, Updates, & YouTube

We’re less than a week away from what will be one of our biggest henges yet, so we want to make everyone aware of an important deadline, an important URL for Stonehenge updates, and an important add-on service.

FILMMAKER REGISTRATION CLOSES WEDNESDAY
Over 60 filmmakers from 25 different companies will be watching over 100 actors audition this Saturday. If you’re a filmmaker looking for actors and want to joint us, time--and seats--are running out.

Filmmaker registration closes this Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00PM. There are no walk-ins. Visit www.teamjabberwocky.com/stonehenge.html for information about the event and the registration form.

(Incidentally as a reminder to actors, we have already sent emails to all 352 actors who registered letting them know whether or not they have a space. If that email got caught in a spam filter or was deleted by your evil twin, we have no way of knowing. Stonehenge VI (DC, 3/29) Actor Lottery Results Emailed

352 actors registered for the lottery in hopes of getting a slot at the next Stonehenge. There are only 192 spaces--so a little more than half of you should now be polishing up your monologues.

Actors with a guaranteed or standby space were sent an individual email. Actors on the waitlist or who were not selected will be sent a general email. If you need more information about the four different statuses, check the FAQ.

Because "Lottery Results" is a phrase unfortunately sometimes used in the subject lines of spam emails, look for "Stonehenge VI Actor Selection" in the subject line.

Remember this is a lottery--actors' names were drawn at random from the pool of 352 and assigned slots in the order they were drawn. Actors were placed in timeslots if there was space available. If guaranteed space was not available, actors were given the closest available timelot so long as it did not conflict with stated restrictions. After that, all the standby spaces filled up.

If you are unable to attend during your timeslot, please let us know as soon as possible at stonehenge@teamjabberwocky.com. We're happy to move you to a new timeslot, but that will mean being on standby for that new timeslot as all available spaces are filled.

As will be mentioned in your email, actors MUST arrive 15 minutes before their assigned timeslot for check-in or they forfeit their space. Plan on bringing AT LEAST 40 headshots/resumes. The exact number will be sent a day or two before the event.

Stonhenge Registration Update: Possible Hotmail Issue

Howdy!

We've heard from a number of actors who were concerned that they didn't get the auto-confirmation email. The only thing these actors have in common is a hotmail account.

We know through testing that the email is being sent, so it's a question of why it's not getting there. If you do not receive an auto-confirmation email within the hour you register, it may have been caught by your spam filter. If you can check, please do so. If you cannot check, or you do not see the auto-confirmation email, please drop us a line at stonehenge@teamjabberwocky.com and we'll see if your registration has been added to the database.

2008 Stonehenge Dates Announced!

There will be at least three henges this year in three locations: DC, Maryland, and most likely Virginia.

The dates are:

March 29th in Washington DC

May 18th in Baltimore, MD

September 20th (or 27th) in Arlington VA (or DC)

2008 Stonehenge Dates Almost Set!

While we have not finalized the exact dates with the venues for the 2008 Stonehenges, we can report the general times.

Stonehenge VI
Late March/Early April, 2008 - Washington, DC

Of special interest to DC 2008 48 Hour Film Project teams as well as filmmakers shooting in the Summer.

Stonehenge VII
mid-May, 2008 - Maryland

Of special interest to Baltimore 48 Hour Film Project teams as well as filmmakers shooting later in the Summer.

Stonehenge VIII
Late September, 2008 - Washington, DC

Of special interest to filmmakers shooting in the winter and participants of the National Film Challenge.

Remember, unless otherwise noted, you can expect any Stonehenge to have the same format: running from 10am until 5pm with a break from 1pm until 2pm. Actors prepare a film or television monologue no longer than 90 seconds. Details are found in the Actor's FAQ of the Stonehenge web site.

Two Important Notes about Registration:

Stonehenge is switching to a lottery system. Actors will have two weeks to register online at the Stonehenge web site.
Online registration will be changing in line with a complete redesign to the Stonehenge site.

DeLeon Crossing, Team J's entry in the 2007 48 Hour Film Project has made it into the Best of DC! That means out of 93 films completed, DeLeon is one of 22 that made the cut to be shown in this special set of screenings Thursday, May 24 at 7pm.

DeLeon Crossing Screens at AFI Silver

A sold-out audience saw Team J's entry for the 2007 48 Hour Film Project Friday night. We screened in "Group G' along with a dozen other DC-area filmmakers. There were several strong films, so we were very pleased to get a positive reaction to DeLeon. Kudos to the whole cast and crew (many of whom were there!). Now, the agonizing wait begins as we see if we made the cut to be in the "Best Of DC" screening on Thursday, May 24.

Team J Finishes DeLeon Crossing

We knew it was fate when the genre we drew was fantasy, but no one expected quite the experience we had with the 48 Hour Film Project this past weekend.

For those who don't know, this is a competition where, given a genre, character, line of dialogue, and prop, you must write, shoot, and edit a film in 48 hours.

Team J's entry, DeLeon Crossing, will be screening this Friday, May 11th at 7pm at the AFI Silver Theatre. For tickets, visit their web site (they sell out fast!).

Stonehenge 5 Wrap-Up

Stonehenge V marked our third time at the Warehouse Theater. 120 actors were seen by over 50 filmmakers representing over two dozen companies.

As with all henges, this came about thanks to the help of a great many people whom we would like to thank here:

Thanks to Vanessa Hranitz of IT Girl for database programming as well as Sam Brown, Sean Clark, Daniel Fiorito, Lee Perna, Tricia McCauley, Barry Schmetter, Meredith Sims, Liz Smith, Jackie Steven, and Mary Ann Sust for testing the new database. Roy Quini also did a new version of the Stonehenge logo.

Kelley Slagle and the nice folks at the Actor's Center helped spread the word and help find volunteers as did Barry Gribble and Integral Arts. We also thank the help of WIFV, ITVA-DC, and the 48 Hour Film Project for putting the word out about the event.

The steadfast check-in crew consisted of Kim Davenport, Meredith Sims, and Andy Spivey. They were assisted by some wonderful resume wranglers: Francis Abbey, Betty Entzminger, Susan Franks, Loren Hankin, Joy Haynes, Barbara McLeod, Sophia Medley, Gale Nemec, and Chinyere Walker. Barry Gribble and Kevin Good of Integral Arts were on camera, and the guy with the stopwatch was Bjorn Munson.
